Pack 72 was originally founded in 1952. We are chartered through the North Valley District of Minsi Trails Council, which covers eastern Pennsylvania and part of western New Jersey. The chartering organization for Pack 72 is an independent non-profit corporation, the Group of Citizens, Fogelsville PA. Pack 72 is one of the few remaining independent Scouting organizations in the nation. Today, Pack 72 consists of approximately 70 boys ranging from 7 to 11 years of age in Tiger Dens, Cub Scout Dens, and Webelos Scouting Dens, with 20+ adult leaders. We are an enthusiastic group of Scouters dedicated to teaching leadership and Scouting skills to aspiring young men.
Our monthly Pack meetings are held at Hassen Creek Lodge at Camp Spirit. The 23 acres of wooded and open
land at Camp Spirit is ideal for overnight camping and many outdoor activities.
At Pack 72, we take pride in our events involving boys, and family members, throughout our scouting year. Some activities teach our boys a sense community like our annual “Toys for Tots” drive and “Scouting for Food” where boys obtain food donations from local homes to donate to food banks in our community. Other activities help to promote sportsmanship and teamwork, like our Pinewood Derby and Cub Mobile event where teams of boys work through obstacles on a homemade cart.
Every scout in our Pack also has many opportunities to go on overnight camping trips. Some of these events occur right at Camp Spirit like our Mother/Son camp-in and Father/Son camp-out. Boys can also go to a week long residence camp at nearby Akeland, and numerous Day Camps held throughout the Lehigh Valley. Pack 72 runs two Day Camps at Camp Spirit each year! At these camps, trained leaders teach the boys how to safely participate in activities like archery, BB and slingshot. Our goal is to make our events so much fun that our boys barely notice that they are learning skills that they will use for the rest of their lives!
